The mission of the Sticks for Troops program is to provide hockey equipment to deployed service members worldwide. (Multiple Sites in Afghanistan as well as Qatar, Kuwait, and Egypt) The goal is not only to provide equipment but to also share the valuable lessons learned through teamwork, dedication and sportsmanship.
The organization has received support from several NHL players including T.J. Oshie (Washington Capitals) and Nathan Gerbe (Carolina Hurricanes) and has received donations from the Chicago Blackhawks and other teams from around North America.
SFT is a ‘Not for Profit’ organization created by USAF Staff Sergeant John Lindner in 2012. All monetary donations to SFT are used to ship donated equipment and sticks to military locations all over the globe.
They have sent over $85,000 in sticks and equipment to sites in Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and personnel deployed at sea. They rely heavily on support from our followers on social media including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to help spread the message of their mission.
